What is Thresholds and Passages?

Thresholds and Passages is a retreat and conference ministry and soon to be published book. Fran and I started this ministry in early 2005. It extends a call to women in mid-life who have lost some of themselves along their journey.

Our culture scripts our lives as American women. Our churches can also try to jam us in a tight-fitting mold. After we've allowed ourselves to be what everyone else needs or wants, we end up with boringly predictable lives that seem stale and ordinary.

I found this beautiful photo on Flickr.com. It was taken by Follettomonello, a handsome young man who made it available for public use. It reminds me of how beautiful and complicated our travels are through this life. The light and the dark are always there, but there's usually just enough light to lead us to the next portal. The way itself is a mystery, and often we have no idea where we're headed. But Jesus promised to lead us, and so we follow as best we can. None of us does it perfectly.

Though we've both been believers for over 40 years, through a series of events we share in the conference and our book, we began to see that when Jesus called us to follow Him, we didn't understand what that meant. Our journey has been one of real adventure - scary, daring and joyful. We have come to see that life is not meansured by how many breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

From time to time, we'd like to share our thoughts with you - about purpose, balance, authenticity, reflection, girlfriends, letting go and lots of other topics. We hope to hear your story as well. We can learn from each other.

We are new bloggers, just learning the basics. Sign up as a member so you can post your story. We are on the edge of our seats waiting to hear what you have to say about your lives. Are you ready to move into your true destiny? Are you stuck? Has the ride been great and you can't wait for the next bend in the road? Speak to us. We promise to listen.
